House Smallwood of Acorn Hall is a noble house from Acorn Hall in the riverlands. Their sigil is six brown acorns on yellow.[1][2] According to semi-canon sources their motto is "From These Beginnings."[3] The Smallwoods are sworn to House Vance of Wayfarer's Rest.[4]
The lands of House Smallwood are near those that belonged to House Goodbrook.[5]
History
Lord Smallwood died fighting in King Arlan III Durrandon's campaign, which included the Battle of Six Kings.[6]
Myles Smallwood once served as Hand of the King. He was renowned for his courage, but is considered a disaster as Hand.[7]
During the First Blackfyre Rebellion, the Smallwoods supported the Targaryens. A man-at-arms of House Smallwood killed Addam Osgrey at the Battle of the Redgrass Field.[2]
Lord Smallwood, who was acquainted with Ser Kyle the Cat, traveled to Whitewalls to take part in the Whitewalls tourney. His nephew broke his wrist during the tourney. Daemon II Blackfyre issued commands to Lord Smallwood during the tourney, suggesting he was aware of the Second Blackfyre Rebellion.[8]

A Clash of Kings
Thoren Smallwood commands the rangers of the Night's Watch after Ser Jaremy Rykker's death. He is part of the great ranging that leaves Castle Black in search of wildlings.
A Storm of Swords
During the fight at the Fist, Thoren is killed by a wight bear.[9]
Lord Theomar Smallwood is off fighting with his liege lord, Karyl Vance, when the brotherhood without banners stays at Acorn Hall. Lady Ravella Smallwood tells Arya Stark she sent her daughter Carellen to her great-aunt at a motherhouse in Oldtown at the start of the War of the Five Kings.[4]
A tent bearing the arms of House Smallwood is spotted by Arya at the Twins before the Red Wedding.[10]
A Feast for Crows
Ser Jaime Lannister spots the banner of House Smallwood among those of the river lords who have bent the knee and now aid House Lannister in the siege of Riverrun.[11]
