West Blue Mountain (New Mexico)
West Blue Mountain is the highest peak in the San Mateo Mountains of southwestern New Mexico, in the United States. It rises in the southern half of the range, far from any paved road, making access difficult and traffic on the surrounding trails very light.[3] Its summit is the highest point in the Apache Kid Wilderness of the Cibola National Forest.[1]

West Blue and the nearby 10,309' Blue Mountain are often confused with one another. Relatively few people visit this area. However, the reclusive West Blue Mountain makes a worthy goal for anyone willing to venture out into the wilderness. With a prominence of 3,136', West Blue Mountain is big enough to make an appearance on the New Mexico Prominence Map.
