Season 8 of Game of Thrones is the eight and final[1] season of the series. Season eight was officially announced during the Television Critics Association tour in 2016.[2]
Production
In March 2017, Season 8 was reported to contain only six episodes, making it the shortest season of the series. The episodes will be written by four writers: Dave Hill (episode 1), Bryan Cogman (episode 2), and Benioff and Weiss (episodes 3 through 6).[3]
Filming of the final six episodes has been said to begin in September[4] or October, 2017.[5]
