V-Awards
V-Awards honours young changemakers[1][2] is a join initiative of United Nations India[3] and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.[4][5] Every year 10 young changemakers[6] are awarded by the Youth Minister of India at UN House India on International Volunteer Day.[7][8]

History
The V-Awards is an initiative of United Nations Volunteer India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and United Nations Development Programme India and supported by United Nations India and YuWaah. The ideation and foundation of V-Awards was done by Rishi Banshiwal, a Former Management Associate at UNV India.[9]
The First Edition 2018

The first edition of V-Awards India was organized on 5th December 2018 on International Volunteer Day at United Nations India where the 10 changemakers were honoured with V-Awards.[7]
The Second Edition 2019

The second edition of V-Awards India was International Volunteer Day 2019 where the ten youth changemakers from all over the country was awarded for their valuable contribution towards the society. The notable guests during V-Awards 2019 includes Mr. Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Ms. Shoko Noda, UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Arun Sahdeo, Country Coordinator, UNV India and Ms. Upma Chawdhry Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.[10]
The third and fourth edition
The third and fourth edition of V-Awards were organized virtually due to the COVID pandemic. It was live telecasted on various social media platforms of UNV India and UNDP India. Both the years it was organized on December 05.[11]
The 5th Edition 2022
After 2 years of virtual events, V-Awards 2022 that was the fifth edition was organized offline at United Nations India where all the 10 changemakers of the year were awarded by the Youth Minister of India. The guests present during this ceremony were Anurag Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of Youth, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Ms. Shoko Noda, UNDP Resident Representative and others.[4]
Notable Awardees
- Bisathi Bharath - Indian social worker and activist. Awarded by the President of India.
- Malhar Kalambe - 2022 India's Top Digital Stars, Forbes.[12][13]
- Md Zabi Khan - An animal rights activist, also appeared in MTV’s show Roadies Revolution[14]
- Shankar Singh - Indian environmentalist[15]
Coordinator

All the coordination work between the United Nations Volunteer India, United Nations Development Programme India and the V-Awards applicants were done by Shaunak Chakraborty.[16] He also manages the online presence of V-Awards, application form, social media handles, etc.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a citizen of India
- The applicant must be between 15 and 29 of age
- She/he must have volunteered for a minimum of 150 hours in a volunteering project or initiative spread over the past one year
- Her/his actions must have meaningful engagement with communities and societies.[17]
Selection Cycle
- September – October: The team review of the applications to ensure that candidates meet the eligibility criteria. Those who will be selected for the next round they will be updated and guided for it.
- End of October: A telephonic review will be held with the second-round candidates. After that selected candidates will be called for interview.
- Start of November: Status update to candidates.
- December 5: On International Volunteer Day, award ceremony will be there to recognize the volunteers.
