Quchan Atiq District

Quchan Atiq District (Persian: بخش قوچان عتیق) is in Quchan County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran.[3] Its capital is the city of Shahr-e Kohneh.[4]

At the 2006 National Census, its population (as Quchan Atiq Rural District of the Central District) was 24,559 in 6,137 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 23,226 people in 6,663 households.[6] At the latest census in 2016, the district had 21,037 inhabitants in 6,521 households.[2]

After the census, two rural districts of the Central District were separated from the district.[3] Quchan Atiq Rural District became Quchan Atiq District and shares the district with the newly established Yazdan Rural District.[4] The village of Shahr-e Kohneh has been raised to the status of a city.[7]
