Joana Vidal i Tarragó
Life
Daughter of lawyer Joan Vidal i Valls and Eulàlia Tarragó i Castells.[1]
She was a folklore student of Rossend Serra i Pagès at the Escola d'Institutrius and other Careers for Women in Barcelona. She devoted himself to the study of stories, especially Arabic,[2] She compiled documentation from this field as well as songs, games, prayers and healing practices. Encouraged by her teacher, she gave lectures in different places, including the Hiking Club of Catalonia, on the comparison between Oriental and Catalan fables.[3] Vidal was a member of the center's Folklore section.[4]
Between 1905 and 1935 she also published folklore articles in several magazines: an article entitled "Las mil y una nits y las rondallas catalanes" appeared in Art Jove ,[5] and some stories of Catalonia, in Arxiu de Tradicions Popular, in Once, Catalana, and a legend in El Puigmal .[4]
She married the doctor Joan de Déu Soler i Badia, from Badalona.[6] The folklorist Joan Soler i Amigó is her nephew .[7]
Her research is kept in the papers of Rossend Serra i Pagès at the Historical Archive of the City of Barcelona .[8]
