Monsters-and-maidens

Monsters-and-maidens[1] or monsters and maidens[2] is a game played by multiple individuals, usually children. Participants chase each other while pretending to be monsters or maidens.

History

As a child, Arya Stark played monsters-and-maidens, hide-the-treasure, and come-into-my-castle with the children of the people of Winterfell.[1] She also played come-into-my-castle and monsters-and-maidens amongst the stone kings in the crypt of Winterfell.[2]

Recent Events

A Clash of Kings

Rickon Stark plays monsters-and-maidens, lord of the crossing, rats and cats, and come-into-my-castle with Big Walder and Little Walder Frey.[3]

A Storm of Swords

Edric Storm plays monsters-and-maidens with Shireen Baratheon and Patchface at Aegon's Garden in Dragonstone, with Edric pretending to be a monster.[4]

Shae and Tyrion Lannister pretend to play the game during a tryst amongst the dragon skulls within the Red Keep.[5]
